BEFORE VARNISHING, USE FOR CLEANING:
Hempel's Pre-Clean
Always ensure all surfaces are clean, oil-free, and dry. Clean the surface and remove any oil and grease.Epifanes Spraythinneror a degreasing thinner and dry sand with 220 grit sandpaper. Remove sanding dust with a tack cloth and degrease once more.
VARNISHING:
Rapidcoat varnish does not need to be thinned, but can be thinned by a maximum of 5% withEpifanes Brushthinneror 5–10% withEpifanes Spraythinnerif you are spray-applying. Apply the varnish thinly to the surface to be treated 5–6 times. Allow to dry for at least 5 hours between coats. Intermediate sanding is not necessary but can be done for a more beautiful finish. In this case, sand with 280–320 grit sandpaper. Remove sanding dust with a tack cloth.
If Rapid varnishes are to be overcoated with other Epifanes varnishes (Clear Varnish, Wood Finish Gloss, or Rubbed Effect), then sanding with 220 grit sandpaper or 280–320 if it isEpifanes Rapidclearshould be done before treatment.
The surface must be completely clean and dry at the time of painting, and its temperature must be above the dew point to avoid condensation. The moisture content of the wood must not exceed 15%. Do not apply in direct sunlight. In enclosed spaces, ensure adequate ventilation during painting and drying.
NEXT VARNISH LAYER:
By itself,Epifanes Clear Varnish,Epifanes Wood Finish Glossvarnish,Epifanes Rubbed Effectvarnish, orEpifanes Rapidclearvarnish.
TOOLS:
Brush, Roller (foam), Spray gun.
THINNING:
When brushing:Epifanes Brushthinner, as per the instructions above.
When spraying:Epifanes Spraythinner, as per the instructions above.
Nozzle size when spraying: 1.3 mm – 1.5 mm (Spray gun, air).
Air pressure when spraying: 2 – 3 (Spray gun, air).
DRYING TIME:
Touch dry: 1 hour at 18°C.
Sandable: 2 hours at 18°C.
Recoatable:
Earliest: 5 – 6 hours at 18°C.
Latest: No restrictions.
There is no maximum recoating time specified, but if the surface has come into contact with oil or other contaminants, remove them thoroughly with a suitable cleaner, rinse the surface with fresh water, and allow to dry. Lightly sand the surface and remove dust before repainting.
NOTE!: Mix the product well before use! Avoid direct sunlight and strong winds during application.
