For deck painting, a durable paint with a matte finish is best. This ensures the deck coating is durable and prevents harmful glare from forming.

Tips for painting the deck

• Pre-treat the deck with a coarse abrasive sponge or a wire brush.
• If you are using Hempel Anti Slip Pearls in the paint, mix them into the paint in small amounts at a time.
• A 160g jar of Hempel Anti Slip Pearls is enough for at least 1.5 litres of paint, depending on how many anti-slip pearls are desired on the deck (80g pearls per 0.75L of paint).
• On a roughened fiberglass deck, anti-slip pearls may not be necessary.
• Multicoat is better applied to the deck with a roller than a brush to ensure an even surface.
• If you want a non-slip surface, you can use Hempel Anti Slip Pearls in Hempel Brilliant Gloss or Hempel Supreme Gloss paint.
