WEST SYSTEM 105 Epoxy Resin and hardeners form a versatile epoxy system that can be used for everything from basic repairs to long-lasting repairs for high-performance construction. When WEST SYSTEM epoxy resin and hardeners are mixed at the appropriate mixing ratio, they cure into a very strong solid plastic material. The resulting plastic adheres firmly to a wide variety of materials, including wood, fiberglass, and other reinforcing materials, as well as metals.Choose from several hardeners and additives to tailor the handling properties and cured physical properties of the epoxy mixture to suit your working conditions and specific coating or bonding application.
Store epoxy resin and hardeners at room temperature. Keep containers closed to ensure the product remains functional for a long time. When stored correctly, epoxy resin and hardeners should remain usable for several years. After long storage, check the accuracy of your epoxy pumps. Mix a small batch of epoxy (3 pumps of resin and 3 pumps of hardener), mix thoroughly for one minute, and leave it in the mixing cup. The epoxy should cure to a solid within the time specified on the hardener, depending on the temperature of your working environment. This way, you'll know that your epoxy resin and hardener have not lost their effectiveness and should be suitable for use in your project. Over time, 105 Epoxy Resin thickens slightly, so it requires special care during mixing.
Repeated freezing/thawing cycles during storage can cause 105 resin to crystallize. If this happens, heat the resin can to 51 °C and stir to dissolve the crystals. Hardeners may darken with age, but the color does not affect the cured physical properties. If the finish is clear, consider any possible color change if you intend to use very old and new hardeners in the same project.
