Why choose Maston TeakOil Teak Oil brown?
Maston TeakOil brown is a good choice when you want to both protect the wood surface and enhance its shade. The brown color deepens the appearance of the wood and helps restore a warmer and more even look to worn or faded wood surfaces.
The product penetrates the wood and helps prevent moisture damage, drying, warping, and cracking. It is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and is easy to apply with a lint-free cloth or brush. Normally one coat is sufficient, but new, dry or worn wood surfaces may require multiple coats.

Instructions for use and working order
Clean the wood surface thoroughly before oiling. The surface must be dry, clean, and free of dirt, grease, dust, and old loose treatment. Protect areas you do not want to treat, as brown teak oil can stain adjacent surfaces.
Ensure the wood temperature is approximately +15 °C and the wood moisture content is 8–12 %. Wood that is too moist will not absorb oil properly, and in conditions that are too cold, absorption and drying may slow down.
Shake Maston TeakOil brown thoroughly before use and also during use if necessary. This is especially important for tinted oil to ensure the color pigment is evenly mixed and the end result is as uniform as possible.
Apply the oil directly to an untreated or previously oiled, cleaned wood surface. Use a lint-free cloth or brush and apply a thin, even layer in the direction of the wood grain. Avoid applying too thickly, as excess oil can remain sticky and cause an uneven shade.
Allow the oil to absorb for about 15 minutes. Then wipe off any unabsorbed oil with a clean, lint-free cloth. Do not leave a wet layer of oil on the surface.
Normally one coat is sufficient. New, dry, worn, or highly absorbent wood surfaces may require multiple coats. If necessary, test on an inconspicuous area, as the final intensity of the brown shade depends on the wood type, wood porosity, and previous treatments.
Important: oily rags and tools can spontaneously ignite. Immerse used cloths and tools in water immediately after use and dispose of them safely.
Pre-treatment
The wood surface must be:
- clean
- dry
- grease-free
- dust-free
- firm
- free of loose old treatments
Worn, greyed, or uneven wood surfaces should be cleaned and, if necessary, lightly sanded before oiling. Remove sanding dust thoroughly. If the wood has old varnish, paint, or other film-forming finishes, the oil will not be absorbed properly. Such layers must be removed before oil treatment.
For tinted brown teak oil, it is recommended to do a small test application before treating the entire surface to confirm the shade and absorption.
Painting system
Wood surface oil treatment with brown teak oil:
- Clean the wood surface
- Allow to dry completely
- Lightly sand if necessary
- Remove sanding dust
- Shake Maston TeakOil brown thoroughly
- Apply a thin layer in the direction of the wood grain
- Allow to absorb for about 15 minutes
- Wipe off excess oil
- Allow to dry before use
- Repeat treatment if necessary for worn, dry, or highly absorbent surfaces
For marine applications: suitable for treating wood parts above the waterline, in boat interiors, and in other areas not under continuous water exposure. Not suitable for boat bottoms, below the waterline, continuously submerged surfaces, or as a substitute for varnish in areas requiring a hard film-forming protection.
Painting conditions
Use the product in dry and dust-free conditions. The surface temperature should be approximately +15 °C and the wood moisture content 8–12 %. Avoid treating in rain, direct strong sunlight, excessively cold, or very humid conditions.
Ensure good ventilation indoors. Wear protective gloves and safety glasses. Protect surrounding surfaces, as brown oil can leave permanent marks on porous materials.
Recoating times
| Step | Time / instructions |
|---|---|
| Absorption time | approx. 15 min |
| Removal of excess oil | after 15 min absorption |
| Ready for use | When the surface is completely dry |
| Additional coat | If necessary, after the previous treatment has absorbed and excess oil has been wiped off |
