Hempel's Multicoat
Versatile and highly opaque, Hempel's Multicoat is a semi-gloss topcoat and primer for surfaces above the waterline on boats. This durable one-component paint acts as both a primer and a topcoat in the same system, making painting faster and easier.
Hempel's Multicoat has excellent resistance to sun's UV radiation, marine conditions, water, and oil. The paint forms a wear-resistant semi-gloss surface, particularly suitable for boat hulls, deck structures, bilges, storage areas, and other surfaces above the waterline.

- Intended use: Only above the waterline

- 10°C: 16 h – 6 days

- Tools: Roller, brush or spray gun
- Application temperature: minimum 10°C
Quick Guide
- Wash the surface thoroughly with Hempel's Pre-Clean.
- Sand the surface to P150–P180 grit.
- Remove dust and let the surface dry.
- Apply 1 thinned coat if necessary.
- Apply 2–3 full coats of Hempel's Multicoat.
- Observe recoating times between coats.

Instructions for use and work schedule
Pre-treatment
Previously painted surfaces
- Wash the surface with Hempel's Pre-Clean.
- Remove grease, dirt, salt, and wax.
- Sand the surface with P150–P180 sandpaper.
- Thoroughly remove all sanding dust.
New fiberglass surface
- Remove mold release waxes and grease with Hempel's Degreaser.
- Lightly sand the surface.
- Clean and dry before painting.
Wood surfaces
- Sand in the direction of the wood grain.
- Thoroughly remove dust.
- The first coat can be thinned by approximately 10% to achieve better absorption.
Painting system
Surfaces above the waterline
- Hempel's Multicoat thinned by approx. 10%
- 2–3 coats of Hempel's Multicoat
Can be used as a complete one-component painting system without a separate topcoat.
Painting conditions
- Recommended temperature: +10°C – +25°C
- Humidity below 65%
- Not in direct sunlight
- Not in rain or on a damp surface
- Ensure good ventilation

If the maximum recoating time is exceeded, the surface should be lightly sanded before the next coat.
