Why choose Maston Zero Grey Primer?
Maston Zero grey primer is a good choice when you need a low-odor and easy-to-use spray primer for furniture, decorative items, small repair painting jobs, crafts, indoor surfaces, and outdoor applications. The grey primer helps to even out color differences in the substrate and creates a good base for the topcoat.
The product contains no solvents, has a low VOC value of 216 g/l, and meets the non-flammability values for non-flammable spray paint as per EU Directive 2008/47/EC.
Note for boating use: this is a general-purpose spray primer, not a marine paint. It is suitable for dry interior parts of boats, equipment, and other items not subject to continuous water exposure. Not for boat bottoms, below the waterline, parts continuously submerged in water, or as an antifouling treatment.

Instructions for Use and Work Process
Before painting, ensure the surface is dry, clean, grease-free, and dust-free. Remove loose old paint, dirt, grease, wax, and other impurities that may impair adhesion. Shiny, smooth, and hard surfaces should be lightly roughened before priming.
Shake the spray can upside down for about 3 minutes. Spray from a distance of approximately 15 cm in even, thin coats. Two consecutive coats are sufficient to form a film of about 25–30 microns. The interval between coats is approximately 5 minutes.
Always clean any drip remaining on the nozzle tip when releasing the nozzle. This is important because the product is solvent-free, and paint can dry in the nozzle. Allow the primer to dry before sanding or applying the topcoat. The primer can be sanded after approximately 12 hours.
Pre-treatment
The surface must be:
- dry
- clean
- grease-free
- dust-free
- solid
- lightly roughened
Remove poorly adhering old paint before treatment. Sand shiny and smooth surfaces to improve adhesion. Clean sanding dust thoroughly before applying the primer.
Painting System
General work process:
- Cleaning and degreasing
- Light sanding
- Removal of sanding dust
- Maston Zero grey primer, 2 thin coats
- Drying
- If necessary, light intermediate sanding after approximately 12 hours
- Topcoat according to chosen application
For boating applications: use only for dry interior parts, equipment, and items not subject to continuous water exposure. Not suitable as a boat primer below the waterline.
Painting Conditions
Paint in a dry, dust-free, and well-ventilated area. Avoid cold, humidity, direct sunlight, and strong air currents. Indoors, protect the surroundings at least 5 meters in every direction, as light paint dust can travel far with ventilation.
