Glossy protection and durability for wooden surfaces
Hempel's Marine Varnish 02220 is a modern urethane alkyd varnish that combines the beautiful finish of alkyd varnish with the mechanical durability provided by urethane. It is specially designed for marine conditions, where good weather resistance and seawater tolerance are required for surfaces above the waterline.
Thanks to its fast drying time, varnishing projects proceed quickly, which is a great advantage especially for outdoor maintenance work. The varnish retains its gloss for a long time and is highly resistant to sunlight and wear. It is ideally suited for both new wooden surfaces and for the maintenance treatment of previously varnished surfaces.

Instructions for Use
New Wood:Ensure the surface is clean, dry (moisture < 15%), and sanded. Thoroughly remove sanding dust. For priming, the first coat is recommended to be thinned (20–30% Hempel Thinner 811).
Previously Varnished Surface:Wash the surface with a suitable detergent, rinse, and allow to dry. Sand the surface to a matte finish to ensure good adhesion. Remove dust.
2. Application Conditions:
The surface must be completely dry. The temperature should be above +5 °C and relative humidity below 85%. Avoid painting in direct sunlight or humid conditions (such as during evening dew).
3. Application:
Mix the varnish thoroughly before use.
Apply the varnish in thin, even coats with a brush, roller, or spray gun.
Recommended number of coats: at least 3 coats (primer + 2 topcoats). For outdoor surfaces, more coats are recommended for best durability.
Lightly sand between coats for the best finish.
Dust dry: approx. 3 hours.
Sandable / Recoatable: approx. 6 hours.
