Previously varnished surfaces in good condition:Wet sand with 320-360 grit sandpaper. Rinse the surface thoroughly with fresh water. Once the surface is dry, apply 2 coats of Spinnaker. Lightly sand between coats. If there are grey areas on the old varnish, these damaged areas must be sanded down to the bare wood. The varnish layer in these areas must be rebuilt by touch-up painting before varnishing the entire surface. If the old varnish is cracking or flaking, the old varnish layer must be removed, and the surface treated like new wood.
New wooden surface:The best result is achieved by applying at least 8 coats of varnish. The first coat of varnish is thinned 50% with Thinner 811, the second 30%, and the third 10%. Subsequent varnish layers are not thinned. Allow each varnish layer to dry thoroughly, then lightly dry-sand before applying the next coat. Remove sanding dust carefully.
