Removing old paint is easy with Hempel Paint Stripper, an effective solvent-based paint remover. It can be used on various painted and varnished surfaces.
You can estimate the time required for the job by first testing on a small area.
Apply Hempel Paint Stripper generously to a dry surface with a brush or roller.
Be careful when using the product on plastic surfaces (it can damage some thermoplastics, e.g., ABS).
Do not work on too large an area at once.
After application, wait 15–30 minutes for the paint to dissolve or loosen.
Antifouling paints, alkyd paints, and varnishes react fastest to the paint remover, while silicone and epoxy take longer to dissolve.
It is recommended to cover the treated area with aluminum foil to prevent the active ingredients from evaporating too quickly.
Scrape off the old paint and then clean the surface with hot water and Hempel Boat Shampoo.
If the paint layer is old or very thick, it may require repeating the treatment for removal.
Signal Word: Danger
Hazard Statements:
H302 + H332: Harmful if swallowed or inhaled.
H318: Causes serious eye damage.
Precautionary Statements:
Avoid breathing vapours, spray or mists. Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/
eye protection/face protection. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, open flames and other
ignition sources. No smoking.
IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present
and easy to do. Continue rinsing. Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor.
Store in a cool place.
Pre-treatment:Before applying the product, it is recommended to treat a small test area and record the required treatment time. Do not treat in direct sunlight.
Painting:Apply a generous amount of the product with a brush or roller to a dry surface. Do not treat too large an area in one go.
Cover the treated area with aluminum foil to prevent active solvents from evaporating. Allow the product to work for 30-45 minutes until the paint layer dissolves or detaches.
The reaction time is shortest for antifouling and alkyd paints and varnishes, and longest for silicone and epoxy products. Be careful if using the product on fiberglass and plastic surfaces, as it may damage thermoplastics.
Scrub off the old paint and clean the surface with hot water and boat shampoo.
For old and thick paint layers, treatment may need to be repeated.
