INSTRUCTIONS
Application conditions:
The surface to be painted must be dry, the temperature at least +5 ºC, and the relative humidity below 80 %.
Pre-treatment:
Pre-treatment of the surface to be varnished:
Cleaning:
Ensure that the surface to be varnished is clean, dust-free, and dry.
The wood moisture content should be a maximum of 17%.
Degrease mahogany and other non-oily wood types with DEGREASER.
Degrease teak and other oily wood types with DEGREASER.
Ensure that the solvent has completely evaporated before varnishing.
Remember to wear protective gloves!
Rot damage:
Remove all rotten wood. Replace the removed surface with a new piece of wood only slightly thicker than the removed piece. Pre-treat the new wood with epoxy resin and glue carefully. Allow to dry and sand the surface to the level of the old wood.
Sanding of untreated wood before varnishing:
Very rough wood material: Sand with dry sandpaper along the wood grain 60 + 80 + 100 + 120 + 180 + 220. Moving from coarser to finer until the surface is smooth and ready for varnishing.
Normal wood material: Sand with dry sandpaper along the wood grain 120 + 180 + 220. Moving from coarser to finer until the surface is smooth and ready for varnishing.
Carefully remove dust by brushing, vacuuming, and using tack cloths.
Degrease once more.
Wood staining:
If you want to stain the wood before varnishing, for example, sun-darkened mahogany, use Epifanes mahogany stain.
Care instructions:
The durability of the varnish surface can be affected by proper boat maintenance. A wooden boat should be lifted out of the water well before freezing temperatures. This allows the wooden parts of the boat to dry, preventing flaking of the varnish surface and cracking of the wood. During spring maintenance, the varnish surface should be inspected and any damage repaired before launching.
Drying times:
Dust dry in XX. Recoatable after XX. Hardness for use achieved after XX.
Thinner:
Thinned with Epifanes thinner.
