Epifanes Varnish – official instructions
Epifanes Bootlak Blank – CLEAR VARNISH
Classic boat varnish for durable protection
Epifanes Bootlak Blank clear varnish is a high-quality classic boat varnish that offers optimal leveling, a beautiful finish, and long-lasting gloss. This varnish provides excellent UV protection and withstands various weather conditions, sunlight, and seawater. The product is easy to handle and offers exceptional elastic flexibility, preventing the varnish from cracking as the wood works. This product is suitable for new work: bare solid wood (such as meranti, mahogany, Oregon pine) and glued boards, indoors and outdoors, above the waterline. It is also suitable for the maintenance of existing, intact one- and two-component varnish systems, regardless of brand.
The best results with this product are achieved by using a long-haired soft brush or a spray gun. The use of a roller is not recommended as the required film thickness is usually not achieved. Always work in the direction of the wood grain and ensure sufficient film thickness. Do not apply the product wet on wet and avoid film thicknesses greater than advised, to prevent sagging and drying problems. Ensure adequate ventilation when handling the product and during drying. Avoid working in direct sunlight or windy conditions. In these conditions, the rapid evaporation of the solvent can prevent good leveling of the varnish. The temperature of the varnish, surface, and environment should not differ too much. If the varnish "drags," you can add up to 10% thinner. To change the color of the wood, you can add up to 10% Epifanes Mahogany Stain to the varnish. After drying, lightly sand each coat of varnish with P400 sandpaper. Sand only in the direction of the wood grain.
